About The Timbre

The Timbre was the brainchild of Devon Taylor and Eric McQuade, two writers with a penchant for podcasts. We noticed there was a dearth of attention paid to this important medium, and this made it difficult to find new podcasts and begin a dialogue about these shows. Rather than wait around for someone else to do it, in October 2014, we threw ourselves head-first into the dynamic world of audio storytelling, investigations, and interviews.

In September 2015, Laura Jane Standley joined our team as a partner, offering us a wealth of editorial experience and a new perspective on the culture surrounding podcasts. We’re continuing to tackle narrative podcasts, but with grand visions of increasing our coverage and adding exciting features to the site.

We’re dedicated to bringing you thoughtful and thought-provoking analysis on podcasts. From our reviews on individual shows to our weekly guide of the best podcasts, you can find out what is new and great in the world of podcasting.

For those interested in getting our ears on your show, feel free to send us an email to robot@thetimbre.com and let us know a little bit about your show. Note: we do not provide coverage or reviews by request, but we’re happy to take a listen to what you’re working on. We read every single email that comes in, and, though we’re not always able to respond, we promise to check out your show.
